Position Summary:

The Buyer position attends the market identifying product that will enhance sales and profitability while achieving the desired company positioning. Responsible for purchasing specific vendor product and executing assortment plans within the overall merchandising plan. The position is responsible for negotiations in areas of Pricing, rebates, discounts and service support. Updates related paperwork and maintains purchasing files. Assists locations as needed and keeps Management informed of product activities and of any significant problems. Responsible for assuring that all stores have the needed product knowledge and the appropriate selling tools to maximize selling potential for the product responsibility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•         Assumes responsibility for the timely and accurate completion of buying functions

•         Assumes responsibility for the efficient, timely and accurate completion of purchasing paperwork

•         Assumes responsibility for maintaining effective communication, coordination and working relations with Company staff and management

•         Assumes responsibility for maintaining professional relations with vendors, suppliers, and outside service providers

•         Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

•         Five (5) years minimum of high-end interior home furnishing

•         4 year college degree preferred

•         Retail background and basic financial understanding

•         Well organized with strong planning skills

•         Attention to detail

•         Excellent analysis and decision making abilities

•         Strong problem solving abilities

•         Able to use all related computer applications

•         Solid written and oral communication skills
